Irena Prelević

Prelević graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Podgorica, majoring in 'International Relations and Diplomacy', and then obtained a master's degree in 'European Studies' at the same faculty, with an average grade of 9.8. She began her employment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro in June 2008. During her seventeen-year diplomatic career, she served at the Embassies of Montenegro in the Federal Republic of Germany and in the Republic of Croatia.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she was also the director of the Directorate for Eurasia, and prior to that, she worked as an advisor in the Directorate General for NATO and Security Policy, as well as in the Directorate General for Bilateral Affairs. During her service at all positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both domestically and abroad, her activities focused on enhancing the relationship of Montenegro with the countries she was responsible for through intensive diplomatic communication, preparation of relevant information and analyses, implementation of political consultations, and numerous bilateral visits at high and highest levels.

Throughout her employment in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she attended a series of seminars and training sessions in the fields of international relations, diplomacy, and the EU. She speaks English and is proficient in German and Russian.
